Hospitalization from Anxiety Attack?!

Question: My boyfriend's mother apparently was hospitalized due to an anxiety attack today. It was the first time this has happened, so I'm very worried, and so isn't my BF. I thought anxiety attacks weren't supposed to be so bad to the point of hospitalization... does this mean that she's incredibly stressed out? They are making her stay overnight as well... what does this mean and what do you think will happen to her??

Help me, please?

They are keeping her for an evaluation. Anxiety attacks can be serous at times just because of how the person reacts to the symptoms of the attack and depending on age what affect that attacks have on her body. Anxiety does not have to be stress induced it can be caused by past trauma or for no real reason at all. It is good that they are keeping her overnight because it gives professionals the opportunity to keep an eye on her and give her the best medical attention. This way you do not have to worry all night and keep an eye on her yourself. BEST OF LUCK

I personally, have never heard of anyone being hosptilized by anxiety attacks. i, myself, have had some pretty bad ones, and they have never lead me to the emergency room.

most people have ways to overcome them, like calling a friend, going immediately to a close relative, or they have their own technique to bring themselves down.

i hope i helped, or at least eased your fears a bit.
hope she gets better. =]]

GET ON 10MG B12 EVERY DAY INJECTED AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE

have them run a HEP PANEL and tell them NOT to rely on a standard liver panel.....alt and ast levels appear normal in some who have liver disease.

HEP PANEL and tell the docs you want NO excuse as to why you want it ran!!!

I've actual went to the hospital a couple of times becasue of anxiety attacks but they never kept and actually frowned that I was taking up there time on that. so it must be something else they are watching, could be something in the blood work or they noticed something else.
sorry

Its common when people first get one, they are very frightening if u never had one before. I was never hospitalized but I know someone who was, and they kept him in over night just to check his vitals were ok and that it was just a panic attack and not anything else. Some people feel like they are having a heart attack or even that they will die so thats how they end up in hospital but once she is re assured that its not a dangerous thing she will know what it is next time

My girlfriend has been hospitalized for an anxiety attack. She just stayed over night, and a doctor gave her a perscription for some anti-anxiety meds.

It really depends on the person what set off the anxiety attack.
