Mostly it's gonna be the antipsychotics, and probably a matter of balancing dosage with reduction in symptoms. If it's related to the mood swing/bipolar end, an anticonvulsant might help.
Working with your doc is the best bet, but being educated on meds helps a lot, too. A good website for psych meds is http://www.crazymeds.us You can read up on various meds (in plain English) and ask questions on the talk board.
I take Risperdal for that and it works great. Don't know of any other atypical antipsychotics though.
Antipsychotic medication such as thioridazine (Mellaril), haloperidol (Haldol), chlorpromazine (Thorazine), clozapine (Clozaril), or risperidone (Risperdal) may be prescribed, and cognitive therapy or psychotherapy may be employed to help the patient cope with their paranoia and/or persecutory delusions.
