Medication for SAD, GAD, and paranoia?!

Question: For people who have SAD, GAD and/or paranoia, if you are, what type of medication do you take? Has the medication worked well? What brands were you given?

I plan on going to my doctor to ask about putting some medication. I am having serious issues with everything, the anxiety attacks won't stop, I'm crying everyday and, honestly, never feel happy. I get happy, but then thoughts just coming flooding back and I'm left anxious or, well, back in tears.

Any answers would be very helpful.

Note: I will be taking them with therapy.

I have GAD and schizoid personality disorder(which is easy to mistake for SAD) and paranoia, but not to the point of having paranoid personality disorder. Unfortunately, I can't take meds specifically for them because I have bipolar disorder, which comes first. I can't tell you from first hand experience, but I can tell you that for those disorders you'll most likely get SSRIs and/or benzodiazepines. Odds are, you'll get whatever the psychiatrist likes.

There are a lot of sites where you can see reviews from ordinary people on medications. This was the first one I found in google: http://www.askapatient.com/.

I also like this site for it's light-hearted, but very informative descriptions of medication. http://www.crazymeds.us/. Frankly, I'd recommend everyone read that site before taking a new medication.

However, nobody can tell you what's good for you. Every medication is different for every person. That's why they have a gazillion side effects. You're pretty much wasting your time by asking people what medications they took for these disorders, they probably took a ton of different stuff and it worked differently for all of them.

Do a google search on which medications are commonly used for SAD and GAD and do some research on them. You may want to start with Paxil, Zoloft, Xanax, Klonopin, and Valium

You don't want to take drugs unless it's absolutely necessary.

For SAD, you don't need any drugs at all. It is cured by getting sunlight and taking Vitamin D and Calcium together (not with C though). Also exercise and watch your diet, no sugar or alcohol which is a depressant.

Counseling (talk therapy) does wonders for most, go that route.
