Amitriptyline is a very common med for people who experience low mood with anxiety, and generally due to the anxiety aspect can be more effective than an SSRI. It can also be used for pain relief. I would recommend that you give it a couple of days to settle into your system and see how drowsy you are then.. Meds take up to 3 weeks to begin to reach effectiveness.. so stick with it as the majority of people have great success with this medication.

Exercise and healthy living can increase mood and increase 'happy' hormones which can be really beneficial...

Hi, I started suffering from panick attacts when my mum fell form a window and broke her neck - the doctor also gave me beta blockers which i diddn find very effective as i was only aloud 2 a day because im only 15. So i went back and he gave me prozac and it helped a lot i dont get them much any more i went form 4 a week to 1 a month - if that!
I find that when im having a panick attact breathing in a bag for 15 seconds and out for 25 helps alot!
GoodLuck

take the amitriptyline 1.5hrs before bed, they may give you palpitations, also start and exercise program speak to your gp first

This is a stupid answer but it does work. When your feeling nervy and anxious then sing. You cant think of two things at once. Got this of an old lady and it works.

No Amitryptylines anymore this medicine is outdated and have too much side effects

Use Lexotanil,(Bromazepam),Alzolam 0.5 (Alprazolam) and Venlafaxine 75mg instead.

amitriptyline does that to you they make you into a zombie, alot of these anti depressants do,i understand what you are going through in your anxiety and bouts of depression,as i have suffered in the past folliwing some terrible events i found that prozac wasnt for me it seemed to make my problems worse in the long run,and i also think that taking other medications in the long run is not the answer,as your problems dont go away they are still there but just masked by all the tablets ect, your last option i feel would be the best but you will have to come to terms with whatever it is whats causing the problems, the main thing which helped myself was accepting and by doing so i was addmiting what it was which was bothering me,it was suggested to me to try and write down all the different things that way i was getting it all out of my system a release and eventually i learned that the medication wasnt needed,i hope you find the peace within and the strengh to deal with whatever it is thats making you suffer.

At this moment, you cannot go medication free.

Coz I read about what you wrote, on the part of prescription.

amitriptyline normally takes 12 to 14 hours to wear off completely. It is normal that you are feeling drowsy even after a good sleep. This medication is prescribed for a maximum of 3 weeks only, so I believe you doctor have checked you for an appointment in 2 to 3 weeks' time right?

amitriptyline works for you. Give it some time. Do not drop your medication without doctor's consent or discussion with doctor.

To help you get better, you should have more rest and sleep at this moment. That is the purpose the doctor have for you by prescribing amitriptyline . He wants you to rest for this period of time.
