You have nothing to be ashamed of for asking for help in taking care of yourself. Actually it is brave to speak up. I wish I had sooner as a kid. It was more a bad thing when I was young. Most people have some depression sometime in their life. It is good that you recognize it and take care of it before it impairs your life.

Just be straight forward with the person you trust the most. They can guide you in the right direction.

I felt the same way you did from age 10 on, always smiling but dying inside. I didn't get help till I was in my 20's and I wish I would not have waited so long. Talk until someone hears you. Even if you have to go to the school counselor, just tell someone.

sounds like your a pushover, stop bending to peoples wills and start getting in peoples faces

Just be honest and tell them how you feel and what's going on....they will understand

TALK TO AN ADULT OUTSIDE OF YOUR FAMILY THAT YOU TRUST AND HAVE THEM HELP YOU TELL YOUR FAMILY. I THINK IT WILL OFFER YOU A SENSE OF SECURITY WHEN YOUR FAMILY FINDS OUT. IF THAT WONT WORK ASK YOUR MOM OR DAD TO READ THIS...GOOD LUCK...:)

If you were depressed you probably wouldn't be able to walk around smiling.

Why does everyone want to be depressed now, like it's the new black?

you are depressed, but it isn't a disease. Ppeople will say it is but that isn't hall of it. Instead try to help yourself a bit. Tell your mom with the person you trust that you mentioned backing you up, that you are depressed and that you are forcing yourself to make some lifestyle changes in your diet and workload and friends and that if she thinks less of you for it then she can ignore it and if she doesn't,. which she won't, you would like some help.

Hi sweetie, Are you still in school? If so, you can talk to a teacher or a counselor at school. Anyone who thinks they are depressed most likely are. I'm 39 years old. My mother is in the hospital for the second time for trying to take her own life again. It is hard being young. Have your parents told you could come to them for anything? Well dear if the answer is yes, then go to them. Spill your guts. I have a 8 and 7 year old I tell them all the time they can come to me or there dad no matter how bad it is. Praying For You sheriffswife

sometimes i had felt depressed cuz a couple months ago i turned 13 and all this stuff raced through my head like whats going to happen wen i get older or worry about my parents wen they get old and i felt like **** sometimes. but what i do is i tell my sister that sometimes i feel depressed but she says every teen goes through that and enjoy your life but join something in school so it could not make u feel like **** ....oh and if u thinked about commiting suicide..don't do it lots of teens did it cuz they felt like ****...just think that when you commited suicide lots of people would cry and be hurt.

ok so pretty much my only advice for you is to go to the roof of a really tall building and then have a friend come and make sure your friend has a video camera. First have your friend blind fold you. Next walk in a straight line saying i love you mommy over and over again. Before jumping tell your friend to show this video to your mom after your death. If your mom is already dead then just say i love you daddy and show it to your dad if both of your parents are dead then you are a really screwed up kid man!

I had depression while I was growing up and I felt embarresed to say anything, so I ended up feeling more depressed because of it. Your family loves you, and they are there for support through thick and thin. It takes a lot of courage to sit down with your mom/ dad and tell them how you are feeling. But, I can guarantee that they won't tell you ut's all because of hormones but they will embrace you and ask you what they can do to help you get through it.

Good luck hun!

Tell your parents, "Mom I havent been feeling too good lately"

they will say,"whats bothering you"

you will say,"I am having some problems with being happy and have felt down lately"

Tell them:I feel sad all the time."
"I just don't feel like myself."
"I don't enjoy being with my friends or doing any of the things I usually love to do."
"I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately."
"I keep having aches and pains, and I don't know why."
"Sometimes I feel like my life is not worth living anymore."
Research suggests that about two-thirds of people diagnosed
