Does depression ruin the effect that music has?!

Question: my whole life I have been really into music, everytime I hear a song I like I become completely absorbed in it and really feel it....I've been very depressed for like 7 months now and lately I have lost interest in music and when I'm listening to it, it seems very dull and has no effect on me anymore....does depression cause this??

I'm sorry to hear this but yes, depression can do just about anything. One of the main problems with depression is that it dulls your emotions and feelings concerning things you were once so passionate about. This is why it is so debilitating.

Someone who has depression can lose interest in their greatest of passions. This is why, when depressed, people are more likely to lose their loved ones, their jobs and so on. Depression creates a sort of "grey barrier" so to speak. EVerything you see, hear, feel is being dulled by this cloud. Depression can cause you to lose interest in the things you love most. People have lost interest in their families, their job, their hobbies, Things that once brought them joy no longer have an effect.

Depression is a cruel thing and no one should have to suffer it. If it suits you, you should seek a bit of help. There's definitely no shame in that. Depression is considered chronic when it rags you down for the majority of the year, especially when it starts to effect the things you once loved.

yes, it can. depression can dull out many (and sometimes all) of the things a person is usually into.

Yes that is depression. Or maybe your music just got old

For me, it's the opposite. Depression's what keeps me breathing.

There are many types of music. Could it be that all you need is to try a few more styles that could lift your same old same old self?

depression is literally something that makes a person so down that they just don't care about the things they used to

so if you really liked music, and now its just dull, its probably because of the depression

you should really see a therapist/doctor, or talk to someone if its bad enough to make you find things you used to love boring
