Does counting sheep to get to sleep really work?!

Question: Guess not. The idea is to get really bored and then just hit the pillow. But its usually better to think of something you like.

Answers: Guess not. The idea is to get really bored and then just hit the pillow. But its usually better to think of something you like.

no.

no

no never did for me, i just think about my fav sport and i slowly fall asleep

Not for me. I name animals from A to Z, then I get really bored and go to sleep.

not for me

Not unless you can really see them.

yes :)

not really. it keeps your mind too busy

Yes, unless you are a RAM!

dunno never tried it! I just tape recoreded one of my boring professors lectures. When ever I cant go to sleep I just play his lecture and I fall to sleep instanly!

i've tried it before and it worked. I remember counting up to 75 and i fell asleep

Not for me. A cool dark room with no sound helps me relax and fall asleep.

never did for me

Usually I get so bored I do fall asleep. So yes! For me anyway.

YES, if you are really tired but very offen.

No, try the relaxation technique of starting with your toes and relaxing each muscle in you body. It works more than counting sheep. If that doesn't work, the next step is a sleep aid.

No, just think of nothing at all, or just picture seeing a solid colour only, like white and u'll be able to fall asleep

Yeah, depending on how many sheep you're counting. . . I'm sure anyone would eventually fall asleep. . . probably out of boredom. Good Luck!

i dont think it does well at least not for me i close my eyes and replay my day!always wit luv, kaley

Not for me. When I'm really having trouble sleeping, usually after having a bad and stressful day, I think about being on a sailing boat in the ocean. Works for me every time.

Maybe, it all depends for different people. What works for me is lying on your back and lifting your arm up for as long as you can. When you get tired, then put it down, and it makes you very sleepy. If it doesn't work, then repeat with both arms, then both arms and a leg and then all of your limbs. Happy Dreams! :)

Nope, just dream of something you love, then you fall asleep if you cant get to sleep anyways then just take one of those sleeping pills if you have to, that's if you really cant sleep and always remember don't take like more then 1 cause then its like a suicide.

yes... you should definitely try, but you have to get to ten thousand for it to work. let me know

No its ge me more bored and it makes it harder for me to sleep

it is not so much the sheep, but the repetitive action of counting a similar image that lulls your brain into shutting down, due to no other factors being worked on by your mind.
sort of a meditative mantra for the act of going to sleep.

yes, it worked on me. after a while, you get borred and fall asleep zzzzz

not for me.

if you sit infront of the computer right before you go to bed, that could be a problem. the light from the monitor confuses your hormones and makes you less tired than you are.. so i guess you feel more awake than you were, thus not able to fall asleep as easily. i heard that somewhere. and there's something about drinking a glass of milk before you go to bed, but i think that's bad, b/c your body's still digesting it. im not sure though.

have you tried listening to nature music? like.. frogs croaking. CNET has a download site where artists post songs to download free.. they have music from throughout the world..

I just makes you think of something other than sleep. You concentrate on one thing and you get tired and don't think about falling asleep and then before you know it your sleeping!

It can for some people. The idea behind counting sheep is to give your mind something mundane to think about instead of racing through things which may keep you awake. When I lie down, it takes a while to get my mind off all the day's happenings, things that need done, worries, and sometimes tremendously outrageous ideas. Counting sheep, or visualizing something like wind in tree branches, can help clear my mind.

no. i suggest you clear your mind completely of all thought & like hum in your head

or think of a "fantasY" like something that would be cool if it happened but ocmpletely and totally unrealistic.
