Does my sister have depression? HELP desperate?!

Question: I'm thinking of telling our mom but she wont let me.

Seriously I think she has depression. She is 12 years old, she just got 2 failing grades on test (63 on one math test and 71 on one social studies test). She is a good student, shes smart, and she plays the piano. but recently she forgets everything people say, like she has relaly bad memory, and she said that she wants to quit piano. and then she gets frustrated whenever people try to teach her something.

And even creepier, she said that sometimes she feels like shes not important on the earth's surface, and she doesn't feel like a true human. I feel like slapping her to wake up. Whats wrong with her?

im afraid i cant really helpbut shes been there and stil geting over it so i think she can help.

Ask her to talk to your mam and if she does not you tell her . It will help her .

better get her checked out....because if not..it is only going to intensify when she gets older...and then you'll have a big problem...

"Yeah. I'm not sure if she's depressed. I mean, she used to be happy, and now she's negative...Gee, I dunno, could it be depression?"

YES, she has depression. The last line in your question gave it away!

She sounds depressed to me. I don't know her, so it's hard to say, but as someone who has been surrounded by depression my entire life it definately seems like she's depressed. Has your mom not noticed yet? Since you're concerned about your sister's well being, I would urge you to discuss things with your mom.
I was first depressed in sixth grade and I didn't get any help. It snowballed into the severity that I literally couldn't walk because I was so tired and so sore. If she is depressed, she needs to get help and support early on, or it will only get worse.
