Just a theory of mine, but I see it in some people I know especially in a heated conversation; They have something they need to say so bad but no one is listening because everyone else is doing exactly the same thing. Right then is where the most tension can build during a conversation because everyone has this compelling drive to make their point and when they can't it's more frustrating than anything. "GRRR why can't they shut up for one second!" That's when it's the easiest to get spooled up over nothing. That's why I said "slowly" because when it's tense and you close your eyes and take a deep breath and let the tension distribute throughout your body and not just in your chest and head, it makes it easier. I'm no yoga guru, but I deal with a LOT of irritation dealing with situations. Maybe take time and practice this and slowly move this process into more tense situations. When you get in a bad situation, look for reasons you shouldn't worry about it instead of focusing on the negatives. It's all you can do to realise that there are just some things you can't control and you have to sit there and take it. Learning to "take it in" is the hardest part. Good luck, I hope I helped.

i say the number one way is to train yourself not to think about negative things. if its negative, its not worth thinking about it bc it never helps. keep yourself busy and keep your thoughts to a miminum and that will keep your emotions down. if u want to talk online on aim my screename is thebtpyoda. my emotions led to anxiety problems so i'm goin through something similar.

try therapy... people go to it for things just like that...
going to therapy DOESNT mean you are mentally disturbed at all, even though society makes it seem that way. my friend goes because she has an ocd, but perfectly normal... so dont be afraid to go. =]

It depends to what degree your emotions are a problem for you.

First, remember that you are in control of your emotions. They work FOR you not vice-versa. There are several things that may be effecting your emotional state. You could have ADD, depression, bipolar disorder, or a number of other things that could be contributing to the problem.

Try taking some of the quizzes on this page and see if anything fits you. Then, talk to your family doctor and share the results with him/her...
