Anxiety Becoming a Problem?!

Question: Okay - you see, about a month back, I had an anxiety attack for no reason whatsoever doing my music class. Ever since then, I've been having anxiety attacks quite often, especially while I had the flu, and the feeling was foreign to me. Keep in mind I am in about the early teen years... I am mostly scared that I am going to drop dead or something. It's starting to destruct me. School starts tomorrow and I'm scared that I will have extreme anxiety.

I have been afraid of simple activities lately:
- Sleeping
- Eating
- Playing outside
- Being in a moving car

I have to go to the school counselor when I come back, but still, I am just so nervous. What should I do? It's starting to DESTRUCT ME..

im suffering from the same thing. It's really dragging my life down, and often many of the pysicall symptoms of anxiety lead me to beleive i have survier medical issue's when im reasonably healthy and young. This alone brings on panic attacks. I know what you mean, most my panic attacks have been...caused by something (something very minor, but still something) but recently i had one, just for no apprent reason. I have a couciler now, like a psychiatrist, no offense to your school counciler but they arnt often able to help with things like this to the extend of curing. So get a psychiatrist! they really do help and dont be embarresed, it's completely normal. Learn some breathing exercise's and relaxations techniques, and always remember your never alone! it's ver common. Hope i've helped.

yes it seems to me you have developed a anxiety disorder.as i have it too.i am afraid to be in crowds,i always feel like i am going to pass out when i am outside my house especially in long grocery store lines.i would never even think about going to the mall or movies.i would lose it.talk to your parents so they can take you to see a doctor.i am on a medication and in therapy.

Its sounds like a tough series of events which genuinely disturbs you.
Whatever it is, it takes from your quality of life.
One action I have found helpful is mindfulness (Jon Kabat-Zinn).
Here are some ideas
1. When you feel the anxiety coming on acknowledge it, don't resist it and if you can focus on your breathing. Count I am breathing in and I am breathing out.
If we resist something, we strengthen its connection to us.
In the long term counselling can be helpful. In the short term often our thoughts come in as a reaction to the anxiety and we therefore make a tough situation even tougher

Everyone gets anxious from time to time, sounds like for you it's become more like a phobia, and the more you worry about it the worse it will get, so a vicious cycle is developing. If you go to see a dr.its likely that they can put you on something like beta blockers which will help prevent it. There are a number of relaxation techniques which will also help such as concentrating on your breathing, and perhaps you can visit a hypnotherapist which will also help. Try not to avoid the activities that scare you, if at all possible, as the more you face them the stronger you will become at dealing with them. Talk to someone you trust about them and if at all possible they can help you through when things become difficult. It is a more common problem than you perhaps realise and there are a number of organisations which offer support and advice you can find them online, don't be afraid to contact them. You will deal with this I'm sure and in time look back and wonder why you were so worried about it. Good luck.
