Zyprexa is a good fast acting mood stabilizer that can be used either regularly or as needed. Risperdal is also good but I don't think it's as fast acting. Be aware though that both of these medications can increase appetite and cause weight gain when taken regularly. I would talk to a psychiatrist about it though and find what would be appropriate for that person.
When I worked with kids and teens with mental illnesses a lot of times Zyprexa or Risperdal would be given when their behavior got out of control (as in rage attacks). Vistaril was also a common one used but only as an emergency medication.
Mixed reviews. Mostly not.
If they conk ya out, it's hard to be rageful if you are sleeping. ;-)
I think the human race just makes up dieseases these days that in my time would be fixed with love , compassion , understanding and a hug now and then. Today we give them fancy names we make up and reach for the TV remote. Problem solved when Sparky all doped up and I can get back to MY life and TV shows.
Not unless you want to act even worse and have racing dreams anyway that's what it did to make my madness worse when I had anger outburst from a a horrible anti-depressant called Cymbalta a long time ago. But good luck with it
If you have enaugh logic to stop and take a pill before you are at the point of no return enraged, Zyprexa can help. Get the one that disolves in the mouth without water! You get so gloomy, you just don't care any more. I took it for a short while regularly, a very small dose, and I gained about 15lbs!
I agree with Mike. I would so much more prefer someone just once-in-a-while to give me a hug, a compassion, a kind word and tell me that everything will be all right...
