I have been on Lexapor for 3 weeks and i am having issues?!
Question: so i have been on lexapro for 2.5 weeks. When i started the pill i felt kind of down, so i figure i would give it some time. I felt it start to work and i started to feel beeter at the end of the 1st week. But now i feel like i am not on anything. i am just as depressed as i was before i took it, i am tired. i sat in a chinese food restruant yesterday crying becasue my hisband was picking on what type of music i was listening too the day before, I want to get on a different anti dpressant. Do you think i should suggest to my doctor to raise my dosage (i am on 10mg) or should i suggest a different kind. I was on Paxil Cr before at 25 mg and that seems to work perfectly, but the part that confuses me is that i thought that paxil and lexapro are the same type of antipressants.. Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to stay on this lexapro anymore . i feel that it is not helping me but making me feel a bit worse.

unfortunately it takes more than 4 weeks to begin noticing any changes in mood with lexapro but if you are having any suicidal ideation/self harm behaviours go to ur doctor immediately having said that speak to your GP and raise any of these issues and ask why her/him why u are taking lexapro instead..
i was on 10mg lexapro for about 4 wks it initially began working but i suffered a slump then i took small OD and my gp increased my dose to 20mg , i regret not raising any issues i had earlier so please speak to ur doctor
both paxil and lexapro are SSRI'S however some articles suggest lexapro had fewer side effects!

If you have insurance again, why not ask your doc to put you back on Paxil? Or, since you thought the Lexapro was working initially, you may just need a little bump up, maybe to 20 mg. My daughter is on 20 mg. of Lexapro, and it seems to help her better than 10 mg. did. Also, her doctor told her that some antidepressants, including Lexapro, seem to work better if taken with folic acid (I'm pretty sure that's what it was). My daughter was given some free samples, and she took them, but I forgot to get her more. If you want me to find out if it was, indeed, folic acid, then email me in a couple of days... my daughter has her next doc. appt on Thursday afternoon, and I'll double check the name of the vitamin. I take Lexapro, and when I first started taking it, the doctor told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks for it to have full effect. 10mg may not be enough - no two people respond the same to a given medication. You might talk to your doctor about increasing it to 20mg and see if that helps - or just wait another couple weeks first and see if there is any improvement.
