Anxiety issues?!

Question: I lost my Father a month ago and since then I have been dealing with rather significant anxiety. I have even had a full blown anxiety or panic attack. I haven't seen my Doctor for it yet because I assumed it was due grief, family problems and the planning of the memorial. Is it uncommon for anxiety problems to develop in this situation?

Hi there,

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Don't underestimate the power of losing a parent. It's an incredibly traumatic experience, and it is, indeed, one of those life changing events that can trigger the onset of anxiety issues.

Please don't be afraid to get help, and don't dismiss the anxiety. Even if it was triggered by the death of your father, it is still suffering that you don't have to continue to experience. You can get relief. And don't assume that it will go away on its own. Sometimes it does, but sometimes it continues and morphs into something harder to get under control.

Please take care of yourself.

Erin

Aw I'm sorry for your loss. Death of a loved one is hard to deal with. It common for a person to experience a flood of emotions causing you anxiety. I strongly suggest calling your doctor, explain the situation and see if there is anything that he can prescript.

I have major anxiety also.
I was prescribed Zoloft.
It helps with depression /anxiety.
Talk to your doctor and ask about this pill
if you dont get any better.
Loosing a loved one like that is very difficult.
It should eventually go away on its own.

hi.i am so sorry for your loss.grief is by far the most painful emotion i have ever felt.9 years ago today my late husband committed suicide.i am on something for anxiety.please go see your doctor you are going through a very traumatic loss.

Go to a dr and they can either give you a prescription for the anxiety or refer you to a mental health professional. Anxiety attacks are aweful things to live with (I've had them since I was a kid)
