Help! extreme sleep deprivation!?!

Question: just had a baby 2 weeks ago and i got a good amount of sleep the first week. but this week i haven't hardly slept at all. currently i have not slept AT ALL in 39 hours. and when i try to lay down, my mind just won't turn off. i feel utterly exhausted and zoned out, but right now sleep is an impossibility.

could this be insomnia? if so how do you cure it??

You DEFINITELY need to see a dr. about this..if not for your sake..for your baby's sake. You really can't be a good or even decent mother if you can't get sleep. You need to ask someone to help you with the baby. It's only going to get worse if you don't sleep. I went through this too with my baby..Finally called the dr. crying. He just told me not to feed the baby every time he cried for it and let him lay there crying..that he would eventually stop. I don't think that's the best advice...but he was drinking an ounce of milk every hour..day and night. I finally got his schedule straightened out. But I do know what you're going through. Your system is a wreck now..and your hormones. I know you're afraid to take sleeping pills because of the baby. What you really need to do is get a family member to help you. Don't take a chance on neglecting or hurting your baby.Don't let bad nerves get the best of you. You need to recuperate.
