Does this seem weird?!

Question: I'm trying desperately to get my mind off of negative thoughts, or stop these odd thinking habits that have been plaguing me [such as feeling as if every memory i've ever had is horrible], and other things, such as my phobia.

And I've just started saying to myself, "Good girl!" in my head whenever I hear, see, or think of a trigger. It kind of helps. I know it sounds like I'm praising a dog, but it also feels as if I'm praising myself when I do it because I'm building up a wall of positive that all of my negativity will just bounce off of.

Is this odd? Or wrong? Is there a better way to go about this?

i have attempted to block all of my negative thoughts too.. sometimes it felt fake to me at times... but then one day i was driving in my car and i was thinking nothing but positive, happy thoughts..and it felt like a natural high came over my body..suddenly i felt secure, safe, and content.
keep doing whatever it takes to get you to that place.. but believing in yourself and your self worth is really important. your self esteem is the key here.. read some books on self esteem and it may help you alot
