What is the difference between these two pills?!
Question: What is the difference between an antidepressant medication and a nerve pill. Which is the better between the two? I currently going threw a divorce have two out of control teens and work in the medical field dealing w/death on a weekly basis. Sometimes things get a llittle overwhelming.

antidepressant medication is a better definition than "nerve pill" nerve pill is used to describe antianxiety medication but isn't a good definition at all.
antidepressant medication is more for chemical imbalances more than situational depression. but ask your doc.
some antidepressants also double as an anxiolytic or antianxiety. anxiolytics such as xanax, klonopin or valium can be addictive but they help in crisis situations most times
the best thing is a combo of medication and individual or family therapy.
a psychiatrist can prescribe the meds for you. a general practitioner can as well but the psychiatrist has more experience in treating medically for bipolar disease,anxiety depression, etc.
I'm not a health care professional or pharmacist but I've had both..antidepressants are for depression & anxiety, also given in more severe cases such as bipolar disease, these you take once a day every day can have some pretty harsh side effects while taking them and specially when trying to quit taking them. A "nerve pill" is typically taken as needed for anxiety, I take Klonopin and LOVE it, I have taken Effexor, Cymbalta, Zoloft, Wellbutrin and hated them all. If you are suffering depression then the antidepressant is probably the answer for you.
