Suicide by carbon monoxide in garage?!

Question: I read this on wikipedia. This doesn't seem right, does it? Just out of pure curiousity.

Any input? That would make it impossible, no?

"Motor car exhaust may have contained up to 25% carbon monoxide. However, catalytic converters can eliminate over 99% of carbon monoxide produced.[5]"

that would mean no carbon monoxide is being put in to the air?

just dont kill your self

No, only 25% of the original gas was carbon monoxide, and 99% OF THAT gas was removed by the catalytic converter. There is still 1% of the original 25% left.... get it?
So, originally Carbon monoxide made up 25% of the total gas but after the catalytic converter carbon monoxide makes up only 0.25% of the total exhaust.

it is possible....you just gotta sit there long enough with no vents in the garage.....its possible

Relatively new cars won't usually kill you if you use the tube-in-the-exhaust pipe method. Even if you get an old car, it's still a gamble. Even then, there's a lot of evidence that it's not painless.

My grandmother took her life this way. What she did was start the car (it was a late 70's car) ...then she attached her canister vacuum hose to the tail pipe, rolled up the windors and put the hose in the window.. she drank HEAVILY and went to sleep. It was day before someone found her so I dont know HOW long she was inhaling but I know she died from the fumes (nothing else...her blood alchol level was elevated but no where near the cause).
I dont know if they year of the car is the reason (might not have been up to todays polution standards?? who knows).

Regardless.. Ive always known she picked this method for the less pain...

Hope that info helps?? (and I certainly hope you are not considering doing any harm to yourself)!!!!!
