Can you tell the psychiatrist what medicine you want to be on?!

Question: i was on lexapro and zyprexa until i found out they make me gain weight. (i struggled with an eating disorder and was hospitalized)

can i tell him what anti depressant i want to be on? if i want to be on wellbutrin becaue my cousin takes it and it has no side effects of weight gain?

would there even be a possibility he would put me on it?
i feel like i need something to regulate my thuoghts and depression...doesn't wellbutrin do that?

yeah absolutely there is... if you need to be on an antidepressant and have an idea of what will work for you, they will definitely listen... unless they have a reason for you not to be on a specific one, they will be open to what you want, its your body

In America, you can say whatever you want.

He can also do whatever he wants. He's the doctor. If he thinks that it might be appropriate, he would probably put you on it. If he thinks something else is in your best interest, you'll get that.

Also just because your cousin doesn't get that effect, doesn't mean you won't. People react differently to drugs.

Sure, why do you think they're infiltrating the public with advertisements for antidepressants? They want you to buy in and ask for something specific; it's how they make money.

Effexor XR will make u loose weight. Im the proof of that! When I started I weighed 130lbs and 2months later Im 115lbs..

She put me on Effexor bc I ASKED for an anti-depressant that DOESNT cause weight gain, and boy she was right

well...eating disorders obviously mean you are anorexic or bulimic.....therefore, weight gain is GREAT for you.

you need to gain weight since you were rushed to a hospital....

so stick with it. you don't wanna die from an eating disorder, right?

yes you can tell them and they will discuss it with you
