"I have self-image issues."?!


Question: Every time I post what I think about myself to another site or something everyone says that I have serious self-image issues and to see a counselor. I really don't want to. I just want to be happy, and do it myself. I am scared that I will never be good enough for myself. I aspire hunger. I absolutely HATE my body, and can't look in the mirror without feeling a slight bit humiliated. I don't' want to hear that I need to get help from a professional, I just want to know how to feel better about myself. I am 16 years old. I know its normal to feel self conscious, but it never says how to fell better!
It makes me cry how much I hate my life/body.

awww sweeetie...i have the same thing...i feel as soon as i get close to a guy or try to, it doesn't work and i hate the way i look or feel....my body's alright. i'm skinny but i hate the way i look as well and my life i alright...i mean finishing skool next week but still...it's so stressful right now... i'm 19 and i guess all i can say is that at different times in people's lives, they will feel the same way as you and I....I think instead of seeing a counselor, we have to tell ourselves that our inner beauty matters the most and that some day, someone will love us for who we are and as we grow and mature, our appearance changes....it's all about making that change ourselves.

why dont you like what you see?

make a list of all the positive things about you, not just body but personality hobbies
ie : i actually do have really nive eyes.
people say i am really funny, it must be true
wow i did really well on that test , i am proud of it
keep the positive list with you or stick it up in your room so you can keep adding it

write down your negative thoughts aswell the pick it up screw it up/ rip it/ jump on it watever and then throw it straight in the bin.

you will feel more in control of your life and bad emotions wont get in the way of you being happy and loving yourself

ya u can rly help ur self by concentrating on wat ur good at rather than wat ur bad at - liking ur self =) - anyway think about y u dont like seeing urself and try fix those things, if its that ur too skinny, eat more or look 4 help on the internet but if the prob is that u think ur not hot or anything, u dont need to be to worried cause all u need to do is stop worrying about wat u look like but how u act cause thats wat will make u likeable rly, if ur fat lose some wieght, its bad 4 ur health, seriously.

WHY do you hate your body? Are you deformed? Do you have 3 arms and 3 legs? Two heads, maybe? WHY??????
If sexual abuse is the reason why, you need serious help and you can't do it yourself.
Hatred towards yourself usually implys guilt about something, and that something is usually sexual. You sound like you need serious pyschological help.

You don't have to get a counselor if you don't want one.Read this book or watch this movie called "the secret".It might help.There are some good self help books you can read(i don't know if you like to read".It's great to want to "do it yourself".That's not a problem.Make a list of things you like/love about yourself and make a list about things you dislike/hate about yourself.Trust me the list can help.Get a journal and write about how you feel almost everyday.Look in the mirror and point out the good quality's about yourself.Don't linger so much about the bad qualities about yourself.Eventually you will start to like yourself you may not quite love your self but being your own friend is a start.

I agree on the list thing. Make a list of positive things and negative things about yourself, and not just things on the outside.

Now with the nagative list see how these things can be fixed and do it!
If you do get down then take a look at the positive things, it'll make you feel better.

And no matter who you are you should be proud of youself, everyone's different and beautiful in thier own way, let no one get you down.
