Question for Adults who take anti depressants!?!

Question: I have been on a couple. It is said that different anti dep. work differently on different people. I was on Lexapro and now I m on Prozac. Can anyone share their side effects, benefits, or downsides to their anti depressants. I use to cry all the time and now I don't. I feel less and I don't know if it is good or bad. I can conrtrol my emotions alot better but I am less passoniate about life. Better to be crazy and emtional or just stable and not care?

An analogy:
Somehow your question makes me think of a person standing up in a row-boat. He's the only one in there. Now, if he starts leaning and swaying and jumping up and down - passionately - he'll turn the boat upside-down and will find himself doused in the cold water of the lake - in the cold and unmanageable feelings of depression.
Now, if the fellow in the boat will sit down and stay calm - take the antidepressants- his life may be less extreme, but he will have a much more stable, manageable and pleasant life overall in the warmth of the sunshine (free of depression).

i believe its better to feel rather than not feel at all.....

I agree...it's better to feel....Maybe you need to try yet another medication? Side effects are different for everyone, even on the same medication. I think that you need to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling.

It could be that your dose of Prozac is too high for you, maybe try lowering your dose a little bit ( but speak to your doctor before making any changes) Sometimes you can actually be taking too much of the meds and that can cause a numbness feeling ( not very nice)

I started effexor almost a year ago I'm only on 75mg OMG when I started I felt crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse then I had felt But after 2 months I felt amazing, I still get that feeling of anxiety but I would prefer to get it it's just more controllable now, it dosent go out of controll.

Hang in there it does get better. :)

Talk to your doc about trying a different class of AD - Wellbutrin or an SNRI (Cymbalta or Effexor) would be good next choices. ADs shouldn't make you feel numb. They should make your feel normal with emotions including ordinary sadness and happiness.
