I want to know something about adult adhd and medications for it.?!
Question: Now from what I understand, Ritalin (sp?) and the other meds are stimulants. I do not understand how this helps a person who is already figity (sp?) and always on the go. I show all of the symptoms of this but I just don't see how a stimulant could help that. Can anyone explain this?

Hi Deborah m, if you really have ADHD, medications (meds) can help you in terms of (a) enhancing your focus, (b) shuts out distraction (c) fine tunes your abilities so that you can react to differening situations like normal people do, and (d) reduces restlessness and implusivity. It can do these because ADHD is a brain-related medical condition. But one important point to remember about meds is that it CANNOT cure ADHD - it should be looked upon as some kind of a temporary measure.
Hope this short info helps.
talk with your primary care physician for these details or ask for a print out of ritalin from your pharmacy:)d
why not just pay closer attention?
IMO, it's a learned malady
I learned to heal, by returning again & again to the here & now
