You seem to be experiencing acute performance anxiety. this is not limited to your band or music, but to anytime anyone should put you on the spot. It doesn't necessarily mean that you can't handle doing what is required of you. It's more of something along the lines of a psychological or emotional reaction to the attention.
Physically you are prepared and you can handle that. But psychologically you seem to have a reaction. I don't think you have the words to describe what you are feeling. Are you joyful? Are you euphoric? Could you break out into a thank you speech for the Academy? Is it creative, where you are tempted to do a bit of role-playing?
Maybe the sense of being put on the spot is addictive. Maybe you like it more than you ever expected to and you become overwhelmed. This isn't necessarily negative. Don't assume that you need therapy or will require drugs to help you through your next performance. But if you do go up and forget something it would probably compound your reaction and make you yearn for something to soothe over the anxiety. This could lead to a very bad habit. It doesn't have to be that way.
Give this some thought. Recreate the moment in your mind and try and articulate some words and meaning there. What are you feeling? If you get a rush, that would be the same thing lots of people experience and that's why they do it in the first place. You are not necessarily alone. Don't let your emotions fool you into believing you are being isolated for an unpleasant experience. First comes fear, then knowledge.
As long as it remains a mystery, the suspense will keep you in its grip. But if you search your heart, you have to admit only you can answer the question. If for instance, if you hold yourself in low self-esteem you will be creating a polarity where you disparage yourself privately, but you get off on the applause when performing. That's very addicting. You need to be strong in yourself. Anyone can be a failure, but it takes a person that is strong in himself to handle success. Don't let it take you by surprise.
There are lots of musicians that become drug addicts. Why do you think that is? Jimmy Hendrix and Anthony Keidis tripped on heroin. Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin died of an overdose at the tender age of 27. What will you do? Give this some thought.
You don't ever have to be a victim. If you don't want to, then resolve your conflict. Join an internet group and give voice to your thoughts. Listen to yourself and learn to see your reaction objectively.
I hope this helps you.

You might be worried or maybe you'r allergic to the spotlight
Just kiddin

It could be a side affect of a slight anxiety attack. I would talk to your family doc. about it. Believe it or not you could have anxiety disorder & just not know it because it is minor. Good Luck

it could be cigarrette smoke from a smokey bar?

If you're not scared and not nervous, move to other physical causes of watery eyes: Do you have allergies? Are you performing in smoke-filled rooms or maybe older bars with lots of dust or animals that you might be allergic to?

Try some simple Visine-A and see if that helps you out. This might be a lot simpler a solution than you think...
