How can I not let things upset me so much?!


Question: I tend to over play things in my head and get really anxious when other people just shake it off.
For example, today at a staff training day, another member of staff was very alouf, verging on rude to anything I said and rather than not letting it bother me, its put me on a real downer for the weekend.
How can I not let things worry me and play over in my head so much? Someone said that it could maybe be hormonal, but I think its part of my character that i need to change.

Im starting teacher training in Sept so need a thicker skin!!

Human nature. Are you a Christian? Read your Bible. Look up in the back of the Bible words like anxiety, trust, love, peace, joy and check them out. Or go to www.biblegateway.com. Look up Jeremiah 29:11, read 7 Psalms a day and 1 Proverb. You will be surprised. You can read the Psalms in the version The Message to bring it to your level! Change the way you think. (Easier said than done, I know. Believe me I know!!) Help someone. It could be hormones too. See your doctor. Take care of yourself. Eat right. SYPERAE (Say Your Prayers, Eat Right, And Exercise!)

Don't try to toughen your skin up, it won't help you to face things! You need to get the worry out of your system. If you can't find someone who is prepared to listen to your concerns and annoyances, try putting them in a diary... it helps to get them in perspective. That way you can decide if what needs changing is the way you react, or the way people are treating you!

i hear cognitive behavioural therapy can get the person to have a different view of things... maybe give that a spin? you can get a book yourself to practice it or find a therapist (more expensive obviously) in the short term have a glass of wine and chill...;-)

im like that to i cant stop thinking about things when they anoy me but i just try to do things to get my mind of it and think that its pointless to keep on letting it bug me.

on tv this guy was talking about using your first and second figer together and tapping under your eye,your coller bone,side of your hand,while rolling your eyes

well its a hard one. but i find the best thing to do is to put on a brave face, act like it doesnt bother you. and if that doesnt work then confront them. just go up to the person and say "look i really didnt appreciate you saying.... this morning, why did you say it? do you have a problem with me or somethin" and it might turn out they didnt even notice it etc. so either gloss it over or take action my dear but remember that if you arent a
