How to I stop thinking negative?!


Question: I am constantly worried... on my bad days I have pretty bad depression. I worry about things I can't control. I always get a voice in my head that tells me *God* is against me and wants me to fail. Even though I know thats not true, Its not easy to ignore it. It affects my everyday life.

How do I ignore these thoughts so I can get along with my goals??? I think its impossible to be able to thinking the way I do.

i actually fought with this a lot throughout my life. You need to look for the good in things. usually no matter how bad the situation there's a good side to it. of course there are exceptions. But they are usually things like a death in the family etc.

when i first started working on thinking positive i had a rubber band on my wrist and whenever i had a negative thought i'd snap it. it sounds crazy but it works.

By focusing on the good things in life, even if they are small.

Do what the Romans did when they wanted to think positive. Lick your pointer finger and rub it on the back of your left ear! Kind of like giving yourself a wet willy!!

relax, exercise,be happy, listen to music.

first of all God is never against anyone
second if you feel depressed, just thing of something happy or funny until you feel better

go and see the doctor and tell him/her hoe u feel !

start having more sex cause it usually gets your mind off that other ****

I've heard that if you try to just "ignore" negative thoughts, they try harder and harder to come through, so it's actually counter-productive. Instead, let the thought come through, then argue with it...."God is against you!"....."No, he isn't God loves everybody!"

make a list of things you love about yourself your life,,funny moments,happy moments accomplishments..stick up inspirational quotes or pictures ....

well all i can tell you is stop hanging around negative people and just think what going right for u at thus point in time u might still have negative thoughts but who doesn't you dont want to be cocky or arrogant

well um you could do those personal self-loving activity things or
you could be the girl who draws a + sign on her head to keep thinking possitive
or
you could see a doctor about anti-depressants...

or you could get a hobby to keep your mind off of depression and stuff...?

well what I do i mostly think of happy thought or think about stuff that makes me happy, for examples shows, my girlfriends, plans. or anything else that i love to do. or simple just talk about with someone you have trust in. most of the time i do.

i get like that a lot. especially when i get obsessed with something and i get depressed about it.
i'm not really sure how i ignore it and i usually dont but i guess you should just think about your goals and hang out with your friends a lot more so they cant take all that off your mind.

watch funny movies, hang out with people who make you laugh.
enjoy life....even if i dont.

are you a scorpio? every scorpio i know my mom, brother, daughter, niece all are like this. It annoys me to no end, because as i tell them think of something that happened and you know is coming up. instead thinking its going to turn out badly reverse it and think of the best possible out come, or what would you like to happen. and if you expect the best out come the acctual wont be that great but wont be that bad either. if you surround yourself with negitivity thats what will come back to you.

Just think about the positive side of things in any part of your life that's what is most important and realize anything else that you don't like you will have to work on and that it takes time to change.

You symptoms sound like mine but its not the exact same. My only advice is that what your experiencing is a chemical imbalance ...the more you try to fight it the harder its going to be, try letting your-self just accept what your feeling and if it doesnt go away .just seek help with meds, dont let it take the years u have to b happy. Your thoughts are intrusive and thats a sign of an illness Many peope deal with .depression and the smart ones get help. .

When you are feeling better than usual, write down a list of things that make you calm or happy. Then, when you're having a tough day, look at the list.

The trick is to write down the list. If you don't, and you try to make a mental list, you won't be able to remember "good" things when you're so down.

I am the same way! I look at my life as a disaster!
