Who can I see and what can i take for a chemical imballance?!

Question: I was diagnosed several years ago with a chemical imballance that causes my emotions to be stronger than usual. I never got meds for it,I thought I could handle it on my own. Recent events have proved I cannot handle it. Now I don't know who to see for it or how to treat it. I will be an angel one minute then be in an uncontrollable verbal rage the next, then back to being a sweet angel all in an instant.

Having a chemical imbalance is a valid medical condition. It is known to make some of your emotions more intense. However if you are under 18, it's not advisable to be taking the medications unless it's really necessary cuz it can have more negative effects rather than positive. A psychologist might also diagnose you with having borderline personality disorder but that requires a much deeper analysis and not just reading your descriptions here. I'd advise you to go see your regular doctor and he/she will then point you to the right psychologists for further treatment. Medications isn't always necessary cuz therapy works as well.

Go to see your family doctor and tell her what is happening to you. I am sure there is something available on the market that can control your emotional outbursts and rage and turning it around and being sweet as can be. It may be more than a chemical imbalance. Let the doctor perform blood tests and any other tests necessary to find out what's going on. I wish you the best of luck.

Go see a your nearest docter. They may take blood tests and they should have teh answer good luck.

omg.. psych docs pull that crap with EVERYONE!!!! dont buy it!!!! if I met you once and told you that I think you are schizo... would you believe me? No you wouldnt because schizo isnt a 'disease' you want to have. Why would you want to accept that you are imbalanced?

go to a therapist, the medications they put you on hurt your body so bad. think about it, a chemical that messes with the way your brain works???? WTF is that!!!!!! Go to a therapist, and work out your issues.

Medication for a 'chemical imbalance' will screw you over badly... they can cause diabetes, death, tremors (for the rest of your life), extreme weight gain (sometimes over 100 lbs in a five month period), bloody diarrhea , fatal rashes, suicide, hallucinations, the list goes on. none of them are fun.

you can try asking for .5 mg (1/2 mg) of clonazepam from your doctor as a PRN (as needed) for when you ABSOLUTELY need it. Dont take this everyday... it is not meant to be... you will end up in the hospital.

You're right there are meds that can help. They are not one size fits all however so you need the help of a good doctor or psychiatrist. Your family dr if you have one is a good place to start. If not or cost is a problem there is probably a free or low cost mental health clinic in your county or the general area. Check your yellow pages. There are also some natural health things that can help but his is not a place for flying blind. You need the help of a good naturopath or natural health expert or clinical nutritianist not just someone who happens to sell herbs. One of the best I know is Dr. Jane Lenzen. Here is a link to her at Helen Health Haus. She may be able to recommend someone in your area if you want to try the natural health route.

It takes courage to recognize you can not go it alone and I congratulate you on that. I have seen appropriate help both meds and natural products as well as counseling to get at the root of things make a huge difference for people including some close friends.

Go to your GP and tell them what you are experiencing.
I'd suggest anti-psychotics. Sometimes a person needs medication, it is utter rubbish when someone says that they are ALL dangerous.
I've had a psychosis where the chemicals in my brain were imbalanced too- and i was put on anti-psychotics, they saved my sanity.
Some drugs ARE dangerous so I'd suggest you talk it over thoroughly with your doctor, they have an obligation to inform you.
All the best.
