Do you think emotional pain is necessary...?!

Question: ...in order to gain wisdom and strength ?...How so...

Answers: ...in order to gain wisdom and strength ?...How so...

i think emotional pain is inevitable. after all emotion cannot be separated from human beings. it is bound to human mind. to an extent, i feel emotional pain is necessary. because, later,it will give us fresh perspectives on the same problem. The emotional pain a problem causes wll help us to be cautious and wary in future. it will definitely make us wiser and stronger, as we r better equipped to deal with the problem in future. but i feel there is another side to it. they say that experience is the best teacher. but the best student is the one who does not wait to have a bad experience to understand something, but the one, who learns from others experiences. so in that sense, we can always try to learn from the emotional pain experinced by others than wait to learn from our own emotional pain. and just wallowing in pain doesnt help us either. the wisdom and strength to over come the problem should come fromwitin ourselves. so i would go for a balanced mixture of emotional pain, inner strength and wisdom.

Yes. I think it helps us work things out in our own mind, it makes us stronger in the end... It makes us see whats really important and helps us to gain wisdom though knowledge, even if it hurts to get there...

Some of the most painful lessons in life are the most important, and is necessary to go though that pain to feel a higher amount of pleasure at the end of it, and to make you appreciate what you have....

Absolutely...without setbacks and emotional turmoil there would be no need for introspection.
That yearning to understand one's self on a deeper level.

yes I do

I think emotional pain is necessary. I just discovered that a few yrs ago...

As a person, who has daily struggles, she or he gets depressed or down in the dumps pretty much. Until they see a light at the end of the tunnel, which may be some exciting news, you gain wisdom/strength (to go forward) and look at things different when your down.

when a person is always in good spirits, and suddenly is hit with emotional stress, they tend to lash out as a way to vent emotion.

Emotional pain? It seems to be a miserable part of life. Do we gain wisdom and strength from it? No, we do develop better coping skills. Wisdom comes with age, I think as we get older we all learn some simple truths like; The important things are the joys we get when we give happiness to others.

Here I turn to the book THE PROPHET by Kahlil Gibran. Page 32 -- On joy and sorrow.

A cup cannot hold water without going through the burning of a fiery kiln.

A reed cannot make music until it has been cut and carved by knives.

You cannot have joy without knowing sorrow.

Yes, it is necessary -- not fun, but necessary.

Yes I do, the taste of pain one of our motives*
