I'm bipolar and don't know how I should've handled this.?!

Question: I was leaving a store and a lady was unloading her groceries with the side of the shopping cart literally leaned up to the trunk of my car! When she would get stuff out of her cart to put in her car, the cart would rub my car. I walked up and stared at her. She looked at me and barely moved the cart and when she saw I wanted in my trunk, she moved the cart. It was dark, so I couldn't tell if there were any scratches. I tried to make eye contact, but she wouldn't. I don't think she spoke English.
Thank God my new mood stabilizer is working because she would have understood English by the time I got through with her. She probably would've also got that shopping cart shoved into her car a few damn times.
How should I have handled it, especially since she didn't act like she did anything wrong?

You being bipolar has no bearing on the fact that this was an inconsiderate person. I would have simply said, excuse me, but your cart is bumping up against my car, could you please move it? And go from there.

Bipolar or not, she was in the wrong. I think you handled the situation fine. But next time, speak up for yourself.

Does it matter anymore? Whats done is done. Be smart and learn from it, be a fool and dont. Your choice

You did the right thing. You controlled your behavior which is much more important than a truck.

For this you get a star. Good job.

It's done. Guarantee she's forgotten all about you. People are butt faced monkeys sometimes. It's up to you to rise above it. Or find a tall climbing tree with a tire swing and join them.

Well be honest, tell her 'what do you think your doing letting your cart hint my car. Move it.' if some thing happened to your car then get her car number. and/or phone number. If you thought the cart hadn't damaged your car then just ask her to becareful, and to watch out for your car.

"Excuse me, I'm sorry, but would you mind moving your cart? I think it might be scratching my car."

That's all it takes. Even if she doesn't speak English, she'll understand your request. Or a simple gesture and a polite tone will tell her what u want. And if you're polite about it, she'll be happy to move the cart.

And if you want to go the extra mile, how about offering to help her by holding the cart, so it doesn't roll away (and doesn't rub against your car)?

If it was me I would have pointed out the fact that she was hitting your car with her cart. If she didn't understand then just point to the cart and make the gestures (as polite as possible giving the situation) to let her know she's damaging your vehicle. If you get pissed then you have a good excuse too. And by the way if she can't speak English she really doesn't have any business being here does she?

hmmm (rubs chin, scratches head, winced eye)? This is a good question...
