It's absolutely essential that you talk to a school counselor about this.

If you are diagnosed (officially, by a psychiatrist or physician) with a panic disorder, anxiety disorder, attention deficit disorder, or just about any other "mental" disorder, you can be considered disabled.

What can happen then is your psychiatrist or physician can complete a form called "Request for Medical 504". This form should be available from your school counselor.

This Request for Medical 504 will state that you have a panic disorder and that the school MUST legally address the situation.

Your physician or psychiatrist can ask, on the 504 form, that provisions be made for your disorder. These provisions can include extra time for assignments, a quiet place to study, permission to leave the classroom when you're panicking, and even a transfer to whatever "Alternative Education" or "Special Education" department your school may have. Alt Ed and Special Ed have smaller, quieter classes where students with panic disorders can relax and not be so worried.

I work at a school. If you have a diagnosis of panic disorder and a Request for 504, your school MUST address this request. It's a disability and it's required by law.

Your parent(s) need to be involved in this. Get a diagnosis of panic disorder (medications really do work!), get the form from the counselor, and have your doctor complete it.

Your grades don't have to suffer because you have panic attacks. Again, it's a disability and your school must accommodate students with disabilities.

You should see a counselor. Maybe you can get refered to a psychiatrist or doctor and get some medications for panic attacks. It is not uncommon and it is not anything to be ashamed to talk to your doctor about. There are medications that can help you.

I have horrible panick attacks at school as well especially during presentations. I have tried medications but the best cure is therapy. I have also tried natural remedies and homeopathy but neither of those worked. Your best bet is to see a therapist. It doesnt happen right away, but they will help you work through the problem.

I am going through the same thing! But i am using medication and counseling to help. If you dont want to use medication then i suggest you atleast talk to a counselor. Maybe start off with your school counselor, they can give you suggestions. Medication isnt bad. They have ones that are made to stop attacks, i am using ones that actually work. But its up to you. You really should talk to someone about this though. You can overcome this!! Stay strong, and positive! God Luck!! **HUGS**
