I'm bipolar, but what else is making me act this way?!

Question: Sometimes I'll get mad at some stranger when I'm out if they rub me the wrong way. There was a big walkway and me and my boyfriend wanted to get by (the 2 girls and their kids were blocking) and when we acted frustrated the girl smarted off. I went off on her cursing in front of the kids. Afterwards, when I do something like that I feel horrible and dizzy like. Then I dwell on it and obsess 24/7 for days. I'm on meds for the bipolar, but my doctor told me I need to have some control myself too. That is way easier said than done. Also, the dwellling and obsessing is also done on just regular stuff. Is that a disorder?

You know, you need to seek counseling as well, meds a lone are not going to resolve the problem. Counseling and meds won't completely resolve it but will help, you have to want to help yourself by listening to the counselors and doctors.

Have you talked to your doctor lately? If not you need to. The dizziness and feeling like poo may indicate that you need to have your meds adjusted not all meds are for everyone

I am bipolar and have done the same things such as at the waitress in a restaurant. DBT therapy helped me, google it.

Maybe you could use a med tweek, but some CBT would probably help, too. It's not always easy to keep a cap on it, but having tools to help makes a difference.

~another with bipolar

Well just let me say practice makes perfect. Next time, try to be super sweet and say "excuse me, can we please get past?" And they will let you past and you will feel good about yourself. Trust me, I have the same issues and I work on it and I have lots of embarrassing stories about flipping out on people. But now I am the manners queen and it makes me feel really good about myself. As soon as you get used to it, it will become a habit and you will be polite all the time. You just have to re-train yourself to treat others as you want to be treated and exercise some self-control and control your anger. At least you realize its a problem! Most people don't care or they don't even know, so good job on at least trying to change! =)

I wouldn't be so quick to blame everything on your 'bipolar' - I don't even believe in it anymore after what happened with me. Hear me out here.

You'd have to research this yourself, but I have severe electrosensitivities, and any exposure to electromagnetic and microwave fields can cause me to become irritable and moody. I actually measured my exposure to EMF/RF with a special meter, and there was a definite connection between exposure and my mood swings/irritability.

So it's possible that when you are out in public and in an electromagnetic/microwave field saturated environment, your brain cannot control outbursts such as the one you just described.

Here is some info on electrosensitivity and what to look for:

Obviously, if you are a cell phone or cordless phone user, you might want to make some changes.

doesn't sound like bipolar sounds like mild form of schizophrenia!

i don't have bipolar but i have found myself in situations where i just snapped people's head off and then felt guilty, but i was alot younger when this happened but sometimes people are just inconsiderate, rude, and full of them selves and thats enough to piss anyone off, i don't think you have a seperate problem, it just may not have been your day, i have days where it seems like everybody gets to my nerves.

i agree with cute fuzzy kitty.
