Xanax...SOS!!!?!
Question: Ive read that it can take 2months-(X)amt. of year(S!) to WITHDRAW off of Alprazolam (Xanax). My question is ONLY for those who have successfully w/d from it, by using the taper method. The MENTAL side effects scare me the most. I have tried quitting and these are the most prominent symptoms:
EXTREME dizziness: This one scares me so much, its as though it will never stop!
INVOLUNTARY (auto-pilot) spasms of my entire body (swift, violent twitching non-stop for minutes at a time)
Overwhelming FEAR of 'mania/manic loss of control': of "not knowing if your coming or going"
*I have this odd numbness of my lower face, which starts at the tip of my nose and is most prominent in my nose and top lip); its very odd. My jaw shakes continually as though Im "shivering from extreme cold", which leads into very heavy STUTTERING.
*HYPER sensitive hearing.
*INSOMNIA, RACING THOUGHTS("time" goes by UBER_SLOW!
Fear of IMMINENT SEIZURE and DEATH.
How long do the VIOLENT w/d persist? HELPMEPLS!!!

Okay...I took .05 xanax for about six months...once a day. I also had heard about xanax,..withdrawals..so, when I didn't really need them any more, I first cut those in half, and then into fourths...and took three fourths a day for a week..then, half for a week or two, then one fourth for about three weeks..then i cut those in half...so i was taking about one eigth for two weeks..then i went to one sixteenth, believe it or not...and all in all, got off of them in about three months or so...with no side effects what so ever...the higher the dose of course, the longer it takes..but you can taper off,...just go as slow as you can ...usually, I have read that the seizures are caused, when you take 4.0 or more a day...email me if you want specifics...just don't stop taking it all at once, and you are going to be fine...here is some additional info on xanax..you can ween from it, I did, with absolutely no problems....good luck!..........http://psyweb.com/Drughtm/jsp/xanax.jsp
Darling .. I know what you are going through .. Sometimes it is better to quite these type of medicines rather than being under medication and get all what you said side effects.It is like that plus another tone of other side effects.The matter is when you wanna quite, takes two to three months to take it out from your system.You get this medicine to relief you not to make you more sensitive and crazy. I have been there and that's why I quite after taking it for 6 months.I was sensitive for sound, for light, 100% zero desire for sex and gaining weight.
