You know you're dreaming?
I feel bad for you, such a bad experience with lucid dreaming... did you know many people practice so they can do this? Including myself.

The good thing is, if you're aware you're dreaming, you can control them. Do things that make you calm and relaxed, do whatever you please, take advantage of the dream world! You are not bound by social or scientific laws. I cannot imagine you waking up in a mood any less than pleasant after a good fly or whatever you please. Check out the links for more about LDing.

It sounds like it's the dreams that are causing you problems, from the way you've described it, but if not:
Are you a light sleeper by nature? Have you tried wearing ear plugs or something, in case you're being woken up from external annoyances? This will sound silly, but, is your mattress getting old? Even if you're sleeping for long enough, having a disturbed sleep can be just as bad as an overly short one, which may be the cause of the irritability.
I'm hoping that changing your dream content will keep you from waking. Otherwise, a sleep disorder may be the cause. For example, sleep apnea is where you have troubles breathing while you're asleep, which can cause you to wake up with seemingly no reason. If it persists after a few more nights, I suggest checking with your family doctor for some guidance.

Good luck xox

It sounds like you are experiencing a type of sleep disorder. I believe that you should see your doctor. It could be any number of things and your doctor can evaluate it and possibly send you to a sleep specialist.

I have included a link below that has a ton of information on sleep and sleep disorders. There are self-tests and quizzes you can take as well.

However I strongly advise you to see your doctor. What you are experiencing is not normal and is obviously interfering with your life. It may be a physical problem especially considering you say that you aren't under any pressure. Please see your doctor!

Take care and many blessings,

Michelle
