Is this a disorder?!

Question: For the last several years I have been hurting myself and making myself sick in order to get attention from others. I have broken both my foot and one of my fingers in order to have a stay in the hospital and have special attention payed to me. I have also overdosed on drugs several times so that i could have a long hospital stay, in order to get pity and attention from everyone. Is there a diagnosis for what i have been doing. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Munchausen Syndrome

yah........its called wanting to be worried about.......

the first post is wrong... you are the one doing this to yourself, not your mother or father.. I am sure their is an official name for it... But whatever it is, you need a doctor or proffessional to help you understand why you're doing this to yourself. Your lack of self worth is alarming. Please seek help, asap Good Luck....

yes..... I'm not sure what it is called. I have done similiar things to get attention. I suffer from severe depression, severe anxiety. I'm pretty sure you don't suffer from these but i'm not a psychiatrist though. you should definitely go see one though.

Histrionic personality disorder

Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriate seductiveness, usually beginning in early adulthood.

The essential feature of the histrionic personality disorder is a pervasive and excessive pattern of emotionality and attention-seeking behavior. These individuals are lively, dramatic, enthusiastic, and flirtatious. They may be inappropriately sexually provocative, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and be easily influenced by others.

Sounds like a cry for psychological help, not medical. Could be a personality disorder. See a therapist.
