I have been taking it since it first came out (pharmacies didn't have it in stock yet when I went to fill my first prescription), and so far, it's been a good drug.
I haven't had a lot of side-effects with it, but part of that is because I have been taking anti-depressants for so long that my body has become accustomed to the more common ones, like dry mouth.
I have taken Lexapro, and it has continued to work for me, longer than any other anti-depressant. I have taken a lot of them, and none of them have continued to work for me for this long. One of the problems with all anti-depressants is that your body grows resistant to the dosage and to the drug, and it becomes ineffective. I have always taken a supplementary drug with it, and while the supplementary drugs have had to be changed or have dosage adjustments, the Lexapro dosage has stayed stable and effective.
I suggest you give it a try. The worst thing which can happen is that it doesn't work for you. I think it's a good drug, and if it is prescribed correctly, you should get some benefit from it.

It makes me a little bit dizzy sometimes.... but it works really well. I've gotten much better.
