In what way does bullying cause low self esteem?!

Question: would like to know

Answers: would like to know

When others look down on you, sometimes you start to look down on yourself.

Bullies make fun of you, making you wonder what is wrong with yourself.

The person being bullied might start to believe the bad things said about them, even if they aren't true.

-it makes you feel like you aren't cool

-it can make you shy away from people

-it can make you bitter and angry

It brings to the surface all of those things that you think about yourself. It is cruel and needs to be stopped. I feel for kids these days because there is no escape for them with the internet and cell phones.

bullying is when a person (usually) bigger than you constantly criticizes you and attacks you for the little things that you do.. and then eventually, when this continues for a long period of time, you start believing those comments yourself. it's sort of like brainwash which ultimately affects you emotionally..
and then when you grow up, you feel like you can't do certain things because someone has made you feel so insignificant and worthless.

if you ever got bullied you would understand

you fleel like your worthless....can lead to suicide....my son-in-law killed himself...he had been bullied

The same way childhood abuse causes low self-esteem, utter sense of worthlessness, attachment issues, and behavioral problems. You are always seen as inferior by somebody who doesn't seem all that different from you, and they have complete control over you and enjoy shoving that in your face. You are mentally manipulated and physically forced into doing things you know aren't right or fair, and time after time you are shown to be ultimately inferior. You start to believe it pretty damn quick, and once your brain starts to operate in its fight-flight-or-hide mode, it's incredibly hard to snap from it.

It makes you feel angry at yourself for enduring it, and also you can feel guilty about hating the bully. When you are told you are a coward or worthless you begin to believe it.
