Does anybody have any advice for woman with adult ADD?!

Question: I have adult ADD, I was diagnosed as a child, however I just started treating it recently. I have such a hard time....because I always feel so confused....I know I am smart and when I can concentrate...I do very well. However, there are times I can't concentrate on anything....and it feels like everything is always jumbled....I always feel like I have a million things to do and I am bouncing from thing to thing.....all day...Instead of sticking out one task at a time. I have started taking adderall and it has helped with keeping me a bit calmer and not so impulsive....especially when saying things....because I used to just blurt things out. I still have problems with interrupting sometimes but I am getting better...I guess I am just asking for some advice on what I can do to make things a little less confusing in my daily life? Please serious answers only

Hi, I'm 32 and was diagnosed 5 years ago. Besides remaining on my medication (I find Wellbutrin works best for me), these are some tricks I use:
1. Get a small notebook. Write down everything that needs to get done that day and what time you should be doing it. Then, when it's complete, cross it off. Seeing the list get smaller makes you feel a lot less scattered and overwhelmed! Keep it with you all the time.
2. Try to keep your days as routine as possible. Do your daily tasks at about the same time every day.
3. Reward yourself for a successful week by penciling in some time for yourself to get a pedicure, buy something nice, or whatever makes you happy. Then you can look back at you to do list all crossed off and feel proud. And you won't have as much anxiety for the next week, because you know you can take care of things.
4.Make sure you exercise regularly and especially get enough quality sleep, those are important so your brain can kinda "recharge".
Good luck!!

If you are on medication and still having all the disorganization and lack of concentration, then you need to go back to the Doctor to have your medication adjusted or changed. If that fails, get a second opinion. Adderall works quickly, if it's the right one for you. kjl

Great that the meds are working, but it sounds like you're searching for a more long-term, consistent solution.

I would suggest meditation. It takes some discipline to get started and keep with it but it's well worth it.

There are podcasts for FREE on itunes which you can download and listen to that will teach you how to meditate.

Do it at night, or in the morning, or even in the middle of the day (i.e. lunch break or wahtever) if you have to. From personal experience it really worked for me, though I had other disorders (not ADD) but from what I've heard from others it works really well for adult ADD.

Good Luck!
