Have anyone experienced psychotherapy?!

Question: ...I used to appreciate a good long beauty sleep, now I am snoozing off around at around 2ish, waking at around 6ish with horrible intrusive thoughts, feelings which I experienced in psychotherapy which finished on not so good terms because i felt like i was being judged at the time. I just want to move on, put a closure to all the difficult issues that was mentioned within psychotherapy. Some things are so much more easier said than done but I am determined not to let the unfortunate things in life try to bring me down.I want the real me, the confident, assertive, bubbly and friendly self to come back again.

Im with you matey! I did psychotherapy a while ago after I was attacked in my home....the therapist was TERRIBLE...I found that I had been coping much better before seeing him, so I stopped going...he kept trying to TELL me how to feel about it...the whole time im thinking "but I dont feel angry, and I dont feel sad, is there something wrong with me?" After I stopped going I realised that I appreciate the way I cope with things.
I journal a lot, then edit my journal...so I write all the really horrid stuff down, then go back and either write the funny side of it, or write about what I learnt from the experience or the way I am feeling...I find this is sooooo helpful to get through those tough times...
You'll get back there matey...find your way of finding yourself, and dont let anybody else take over that journey for you! You know how you feel!

I've never had to deal with therapy or anything, although sometimes I've really considered the fact that I've most likely needed it. If you're having problems, you could try to find a different therapist. I'd seek a second opinion/doctor before ruling out the option of therapy entirely. You can see what the patients say about the doctor - see if they like him/her. I can understand where psychotherapists would fail to empathize with the patient. Some doctors/therapists have been known to use leading questions to provoke some sort of response they feel is needed, all the more reason to find a good doctor! But you can also talk to friends, family, get out and do what you love, hobbies, church groups, things like that. You have the right attitude to get through this and not be brought down! God bless and I hope you feel better soon! (feel free to email me)

Some therapists are better trained than others and you need to make sure if you are going privately that the person you see has a thorough grounding in the discipline.
That's the first hurdle! After that you need to consider what sort of therapist is actually going to be best for you. Psychotherapists tend to work on Freudian or humanistic principles, concentrating on feelings, emotions and relationships including those in your childhood. You might feel better working with a cognitive or behavourial therapist who concentrates on how your thinking affects your behaviour and learning new ways of thinking/behaving.
It is particularly difficult when therapy has come to an end because the person feels unhappy with the process, because it does bring up a lot of feelings that you are then left to deal with alone.
Either find another therapist to help you work through this or try a self help diary. When you get the thoughts write them down and then write what relevance they have for your life today - how do they affect what you do or think? Ask yourself Why? - why do I think that, what evidence do I have that shows that is real?
Then try to imagine how you could see them differently, how you could change how you think about them. Good luck
