Is it ok to tease my roommate and call him names on once in a while if he is str!

Question: On occasion I tease my roommate and call him names such as nerd boy, weirdo, clumsy, and fatty because he is very strange. At 5'10 he weighed 330 pounds on my scale because he eats like every hour. He is clumsy and is very uncoordinated at sports and gets upset when I speak greatly of people who excel at sports to him. He has very few friends and as a 23 year old has never dated. He has a strange habit in which he hums to himself alot and would repeat the same thing that he told me or another person to himself many times and laugh at it even though it is not funny. He will always go to authority (parents, a professor, or a dean) if a fellow student calls him a name he does not like, hits, or kicks him instead of dealing with the problems on his own like most grown college students.

looks like your roomie pisses you off with his strange demeanor however i wuold advice you to really know who you are dealing with. most of these guys might appear undisturbed with the name calling, but in the real sense they pent or store anger until it reaches unimaginable levels that explode. from experience ive known such guys going to extremes when they are mad. yuo dont know this guy might decide one day to come with an automatic and vent his anger by spraying bullets like in the cases in US colleges. my friend it is one thing to call guys names especially if you know them well like childhood friends but another thing if you dont know their background, coz you might be trading on dangerous grounds!

No Francisco, it is not okay. It only shows others the type of person you really are.

haha aww bless him, you meanie! lol you might see it as harmless teasing but he might actually be a bit sensitve, try not to pick up on his flaws so much and if you have to just make sure he understands that you are justs mucking around with him and not actually being mean for the sake of it. He does sound a bit...erm...odd but try not to remind him of it too much eh?

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!! get it?

Well to be quite honest, there's nothing wrong with being "clumsy" or "different". My take on your situation is that he is your friend and you want to help him "come out of his shell" so to speak. If the name-calling isn't something that he takes lightly then maybe you should refrain from doing so. Instead, maybe give him some positive feedback and have a really serious chat about certain things that he does that may make other people feel uncomfortable. Why don't you try to work out with him? Try to lift him up, not bring him down. That has obviously not worked at this point. And if you and your roommate truly are friends, then you should be trying to help him. Teach him how to be better at socializing if you feel that you have a "knack" for it. I hope this helps. And remember, there's nothing wrong with being a little "different" or "eccentric". That was a good question that you asked because there are people like your roommate everywhere. One of my best friends is quite different as well, so I totally know where you're coming from!
