Has anyone heard of Ambien addiction?!

Question: I've been taking it nightly (in the proper method and dose) and realize that when I don't take it, I can barely sleep and have night sweats. It may be / I hope it's just me.

Its actually quite possible that you have gotten so used to taking it that your body is just not used to sleeping on its own. I had a similar problem when I used to take seroquil for sleeping and after getting off of it I had the most difficult time. My doctor said that it wasn't so much an addiction it was that my body just expected it. Your body has to get used to sleeping without the aid. Relaxation techniques can help with that as well as setting up a very specific sleep schedule.

Ambien can be addictive which I why I rarely take it-that and the grogginess when I first wake up in the AM. Sounds like it to me. Good luck to ya.

It is very addictive. Most sleep medications are. They do not try to hide this fact though. Even the television commercial for Ambien mentions that it is habit forming. Most people would find that they could not sleep if they tried to suddenly stop taking it.
