Isn't there a difference between ADD and ADHD.?!

Question: I have been diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. However the prescription I just received says it is for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. I am anything in the world but Hyperactive.

Is the prescription given to me accurate.

Also, my prescription, with insurance, came to $220.00 for a months supply. This won't work. Isn't there a less expensive alternative?

Ask your doctor about it. S/He can explain why they diagnosed you with ADD, and prescribed you ADHD. But as a person before me said, they tend to go hand in hand. As for your drug costs, also ask your doctor if there is a generic version of the drug he prescribed you. Often brand name drugs have a generic version that is, ultimately, the same thing, but insurance companies like them better because they are a lot cheaper.

Finally, check with your insurance company to see if these types of prescription drugs are covered, and how much they are covered, and if that percentage would be changed if you had a different prescription drug or a generic brand. There are different drugs that treat the same disorders, and sometimes insurance companies have "preferred" drugs or brands. So just check with them, and then bring that list to your doctor to see if any of these are right for you.

Those are the only suggestions I can think of, good luck!

check with the persciption drug company they might have a program that will help you with the cost. add and adhd go hand in hand. the dr prescribed you the meds so i would see if it might work.

ADD is when you just zone out when you are supposed to be focused, the hyperactive kind is mostly found in children it's when you fidget/become restless when you are supposed to be paying attention

I have ADHD which is just ADD but you are hyperactive as well to not paying much attention to anything. the prescription you got will work fine for you as it will help Your ADD and since you are not Hyper it will not affect you energy levels at all. Talk to a money person about the money problem because i dont know how to fix that.

watch the south park episode on ADD, the offer methods for treating ADD with or without the H that do not include meds. Even though it is a cartoon, the episode does have good infromation. Personally I believe these methods to be much more effective.

Hello,
