Why do i make things up like this?!


Question: I don't know why, i pretend i'm pregant or i have a famous sister or brother.
I used to do the same thing when i was younger too, i always made up fake brothers and sister...but only to myself i wouldn't tell my friends.

I still do that, i have no idea why! For some reason, i think it's to take my mind off things like the real world and just take care of the "fake" things in MY world..

Help?

as far as i can tell from your question your not actually telling anyone these fantasies, just keeping them in your head, so i dont agree that you are attention seeking. i think its normal i frequently have 'what if' sort of thoughts -(including being pregnant and when i was younger i had the celebrity ones too) and i dont think i have a problem they just sometimes pop into my head when i have not much to do. perhaps if they are getting obsessive you are just a bit bored with your life and are making it more exciting in your head. i dont know what to suggest to stop it, i dont think its damaging-perhaps fill your days up with more things, hobbies etc and they might make your life a bit more interesting for you. hope this helps, take care X

Because you are unhappy and like to pretend you are somebody else. Seek counseling.

ohhh...see i don't want to sound harsh or anything. but you're probably very insecure, and you make up these things to make yourself more interesting. but trust me you are interesting and awesome without all that stuff anyway. Try to get more confidence. maybe try talking to a counselor or a psychologist about this. good luck!

You want attention whether it be negative or positive. Try getting some counseling because if you keep it up you won't have any real friends, and I'm not saying that to be mean I'm saying it because I know people that do stuff like that and in the end, they wind up with no friends.

doesn't sound like social anxiety to me, sounds like a lousy self image. If you had a better self image, you wouldn't need to make things up, or lie, to yourself or anyone else. Don't blame things or events outside your own head, because unless you let them, they can't affect you. Look to the real cause inside yourself and deal with that.
