How do i stop myself from huring myself:(?!

Question: I'm not a psychologist, but I've heard that many times, someone who wants to hurt him- or herself, may have been abused (raped, molested, sever emotional abuse). This can lead to a lowered sense of self-esteem or even self-loathing. Sometimes, a victim also believes that he or she is to blame and subconsciously wants to punish him- or herself. Another reason for self-injurious behavior is the need to feel something--usually because he or she has blocked out feelings due to abuse.

You should know that, while it is not really "normal" to injure yourself, it is not uncommon, especially among teenagers (whose emotions and hormones are not exactly stable at this time in their development). Help is most definitely out there, so you are not alone in this.

If you are cutting yourself, you could call 1-800-DON'T CUT. It is a 24-hour hotline that offers support for people who hurt themselves. I believe it also addresses other forms of self-injury. Also, the website listed below has several other hotlines you can call for help.

Here are some other numbers you could call for help:

Talk Zone 1-800-475-TALK Peer Counselors

Teen Help Line 1-800-400-0900 Help Line For Troubled Teens

Teen Hot Line 1-800-747-8336 Hot Line For Troubled Teens

Just don't isolate yourself. Get help!

a padded room

Try praying and hide all the stuff u hurt yourself with o-o...

go talk to a dr.or random person...and let them know what you are feeling...

See self harm, in section 16, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and contact them, when you feel the need to self harm/cut. There are various suggestions, much information, and useful weblinks on my website: far too much to include here, which is why I needed to create it. Seek therapy, to help you address the actual cause of those problems, rather than using an inappropriate method of treating the symptoms, which others have found, doesn't work, in the longer term, and which leaves behind the extra problem of scarring to deal with, then.

When a person hurts themselves it is due to the fact that they have what my psychiatrist called a mental build up. It is were they are so stress out mentally and they can't take it any more so the stress builds up. It can only build so far. Once it builds to the top so to speak then the person will start to reflect outwards.

Most of the time reflecting outwards results in the person harming themselves. Some will become cutters. ( I am an ex cutter).

What helped me to stop was knowing what caused me to harm myself and knowing the signs of mean I am going in over load of stress build up.

When I am in stree build up stage I will talk my problems out and or try working them out.

I would suggest talking to a doctor about your problems.
There are also meds that you can take that can also help control the desires you may have to harm yourself.
I am not on meds due to mine isn't that bad. Is yours bad enough for meds? That I can't tell you only your doctor can tell you.

I hope this helps.

I think I can help, I use to hurt myself too....What helped me stop is, well I thought about how it was going to affect my future, like this isnt gonna help my dreams come true. and my best friend knew about it, she helped ALOT, she was there for me, so find somebody you can talk to and trust. Then my friend and I threw away all the stuff I use to hurt myself with, so do the same, throw it all outta your life, And I prayed constantly, and it helped, so pray that you stop, with all your heart! Then talk to somebody about. Dont hold it in, If you talk to somebody who is willing to listen, about it, it will make you feel better, you wont feel so alone, and then just move on....change is good for that, so make some good changes in your life and have fun, dont even think about hurting yourself, enjoy the day, and be happy you are alive and on this earth, and be thankful for everything that you have!!

have some self control
