Have a question.. Girlfriend in a mental health place..?!

Question: Okay, So I have been dating this girl for about 8 months or so, and she is constantly fighting with her mother. At least 5 times a week. So Sunday, her mother hit her, and she aws starting to fight back. Then the police were called, and my 16 year old girlfriend was arrested. Then they took her to this hospital to attemp to help her. The first 2 days she was there, she was able to call me a couple times, tell me how she was doing, etc.

So I have not received a call from her in the past 3 days. I asked her close friends, nobody has heard from her. She hasn't been in school.

The 2nd day she was there, she said they diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and started giving her some drugs.

I'm really worried about her.

My question is, is it possible that they are not letting her use the phone? Or something else? This girl is madly in love with me, so it is extremely unlike her to just not call...

Between sleeping from the drugs and going to therapy she is busy and her mother probably left a list of who she is allowed to call and did not include you. You can see by calling her and see if they let you talk with her. They may also have her on a 10 day no contact order like some of these places do when you get settled in. I'm sure she misses you give it time for her to get better.

very true when my boyfriend was in a mental hospital he was only allowed to call me very rarely. especially if sh is underage I dought they are letting her use the phone Report It

  • im sorry it sounds like shes going thru a lot now give her time

If they just put her on bipolar medication she may be sleeping alot. There are certain times a day you may use the phone in a mental health facility, she may be asleep at those times. Or her mother, her legal guardian, may have told the doctors to not allow her to call you.

Ring them and ask to talk to her, they would have a phone in the patient area. Or ask when you can visit her. These places are not evil but very misunderstood.

In many care facilities it is not uncommon to control the privileges. It is possible that she only has the right to call family now. It will probably take time before she can contact you again.

i just came out of hospital ( after 24hr) but i been in there enough to say that if your girl friend has been given new med's, her body could be going what the **** ; she probably sleeping to rest herself! sleep does wonders for the mind! but she might also be doing some activities / groups that they have in the wards.
Try not to worry, but if you can go see her, don't forget to take her something little to remind her that she has something to look forward too and Smile about.
All the best ~ you must be one in a million males out there; to see past her illness To love and support her ,
pat on your back mate we need more of you.

No its not that they don't let her call. She can't call you due to she is well medicated and she will sleep all the time now! Why don't you try and go see her and visit! You might be able to see or sit with her!
