Hey Florrie,

it must be really hard to watch your dad being unwell. Do you have any other family members you could speak to about your worries? They may be able to put your mind at ease. I suffer from depression and know how hard it is to get through it. Has your dad gone to the GP, tried medication, seen a psychiatrist or had a cpn (community psychiatric nurse) come out o the house? these could be options to help support him..however, i am also worried about you, this is obviously affecting you, i think it would be a good idea for you to talk over your worries about it to either a family member, teacher or school counsellor because family members of people who are unwell, often need a lot of support too so please talk to someone.

best of luck

is he on anti-depressant tablets? they can lift him out of his depression maybe

the only people who can help a depressed person are themselves and a doctor, he really should see the doctor if hes that depressed

Perhaps you should talk to an older family member and suggest he get on some meds for his depression

just be there for him..and if you know of anything that could make him cheer up than do it..
if you cant make him cheer up than accept who he is and love him and give him the space he needs till he feels better..
i will pray for you dad...and you and your family..
good luck and God bless.

Depression is not genetic. He has to discuss his problems openly with family members or close friends and come out of it. Even with some medical help. You can concentrate on your studies and pursuits and be self-confident and self-supportive at the earliest. Learn valid lessons from your Dad's life,

Yes sure, it is very important to go and see your doctor for yourself first, not your dad. Tell him or her the problem and they will guide you. You cannot let this go on cos you are too young for the burden, what about talking to a relative or where is mum? Good luck.

Tell him that you hate seeing him in a bad mood. And you could help by spending more time with him to boost his spirit. You could play some board games with him or play baseball or football, or some kind of game outside. Find some way to get him up moving. And remind him that you love him each and every day.

Tell him you love him,,,constantly,,,,and try and find out whats troubling him,,,Good Luck,,,,,

you are not alone. What is going on in your home is called
clinical depression. You can learn to live with it, but strongly
suggest you and the family seek counseling. Clinical depression is common now days in the home if one person
has a disorder mentally or physically you can get caught up with it..Talk to your mother first and between the both of you
there will be a way to cope with your father's disorder.
