Are these traits hereditary?!
Question: my dad has always had really bad anger problems. he is also mildly bipolar. he tends to lash out and do things that he regrets after he does them. im starting to become the same way. is this hereditary or am i just a product of my environment?

It could be. If he has bi-polar disorder, you might want to be tested. It runs in a lot of families, including mine. My son has ADHD but was just tested for BP (no results yet). My mom was definitely manic-depressive. My sister had major post-pardum depression. Yes, mental diseases do run in familes.
Anger itself can be passed on to kids not genetically but just because kids are extremely impressionable. Bipolar can be genetically passed on but extreme bouts of anger are always balanced out with extreme bouts of depression thats usually lasts weeks. It could also be some kind of anxiety disorder. But, the good news is that anger is curable. The more you try to focus on something else or just walk away from the situation for a bit, the more you will train yourself to resist that personality trait and to face the situation calmly instead of lashing out.
