Why do sleeping pills do this to me? I CANT SLEEP WITHOUT THEM!?!

Question: For at least a year or two, I've had a little trouble sleeping.
Recently it got worse. I can never sleep, no matter how tired I am. I'll lay there for hours without being able to sleep. Which means I'm always tired. If I do sleep, it's for 2-3 hours per day.
The other day I got some "Simply Sleep" made by Tylenol. It works, but when I take them I CANNOT wake up for about 8 hours, Its like im dead the whole time because I hear nothing, like i could be raped and wouldnt know it until I woke up.[lmfao!], I have really weird/scary dreams that I can't wake up from because of the pills, when I wake up its like the movies when people have a bad dream and they wake up really fast[thats how I wake up], after those 8 hours I'm very drowsy, and I fall asleep randomly while talking to people on myspace/Msn messenger..ect. Should I go to the doctors? Or get a new medicine, and why is this happening? I'm 14 almost 15, and female..I'm homeschooled so I dont have to worry about sleeping in school.

Get some Nyquil, or Unisom, for a few days only, then switch to L tryptophan, or Valerian root, for a while, but I use chamomile herbal tea, or, sometimes; Sleepytime. See insomnia treatments, in section 3, at ezy build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2.q, and 2.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping.

Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your subconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris

you should stop taking otc meds and have your mom and dad take you to a dr.. the dr's are the only ones who can tell you if you need meds, and at 14 or 15, you really should be careful when self medicating..talk to someone about it, and get a medical opinion.

hey it sounds serious try to have some earliy nites but if that don't work go to the doc something could be seriously wrong i would love 2 here wat happens so give me a email to make sure ur ok!!
well gud luck with that!!

talk to someone about this, go to the doctor, it sounds like you are addicted to sleep medicine

ya sleeping pills can be really bad, you should definitely stop relying on them to fall asleep. Now do you spend most of your day when you're awake on your bed? if you do then it could be psychological and all you need to do is spend most of your time awake away from your bed and leave your bed only for sleep. This way your brain would get trained to trigger sleep when you get on your bed. This worked for me because i used to spend all my time on my bed, and when i stopped, i was able to fall asleep pretty quickly.

You are an insomniac at 15? Oh no. Now way. You gotta stop this somehow.. you need a dr visit, girlie... please. Is there or has there been any major stress in you life this past year?

You should see your doctor about it. Sometimes having a really hard time falling asleep can mean insomnia. It would be best to go see your doctor and get a professional opinion.

Yes see a doctor for better sleep aids. The over the counter stuff is questionable. I take Restoril 90 mg and it give me uninterrupted peaceful sleep with good dreams and I wake refreshed. Good luck.

I get the same way when I take over the counter sleep aides. Its why I don't use them anymore. You should see a doctor and see if they can prescribe you some better sleeping medication. They can give you some that doesn't put you in a coma for 8 hours. But really the best thing is to find a way to sleep without medication. Try meditating or exercising earlier in the day so that by the time you should be going to sleep you are actually tired.

A presciption sleep aid would leave you rested and not drowsy the next day. Try Ambien CR.
