I hurt myself when i'm angry?!


Question: It always happens when my family member do something that makes me angry...no matter what.. i can't show my anger to them coz i don't want them to get hurt..

Please help me...

You don't say how you hurt yourself, but cutting is probably the most common. Try to distract yourself. Go for a run untill you are physically in pain, the fresh air will help you feel better, and it is much less dangerous than cutting. If you need instant pain, hold an ice cube to your wrist, it hurts, trust me, but its less damaging than cutting. Alternatively snap a rubber band against your wrist, this also helps. Some people find that ripping up paper, shouting or scribbling in a red pen can also help. These make good short term alternatives, but you do need to speak to a doctor or a shrink about this because it can get worse, and it is incredibly difficult to stop without support. Finally and most improtantly of all, don't be afraid to cry. It helps, keeping stuff bottled up makes us feel the need to suddenly expel the repressed feelings, and you do that by harming yourself, whereas a healthier thing to do is to just cry. it depends on what you do to make them angry

instead of hurtin your self buy alot of something that is cheap and hard to break and try to break it

Me too. Then I later wonder what I did that for.

No one can really show anger to thte parents thats how we are suppose to be... sadly... When I am angry because of my parents,
I turn on the song really loud(really loud) and hit my pillow

Try listening to your favorite song!
and please don't hurt yourself....
its your body!!

i cut too everyday i stoped when they put me n mental hospital but it started again what they told me to do is write scream punch a pillow listen to loud music drwl X's or write on yourslef

Please get yourself into therapy--this is not a good thing, & you will need help to find a better way to handle your negative feelings. it can be done, but it will be tough, so just take it a day at a time...
