I think you can beat it! trust yourself, think positive, always try to find the good and positive things on the bad things that happen in your life, count and see your blessings, all the good things you have, you'll see that there's more good than bad, therefore there's no reason for you to be depressed, if you have a problem try to convince yourself that tomorrow it'll be a better day, that all problem have solutions, everything in life has a solution...... be positive!!!!! You can do it!!!

depression is a problem with your brain chemistry. there are also life factors that can contribute to depression.

i'd keep active, keep a journal, eat well, and focus on correcting your thoughts into positive ones when they run negative. positive relationships with trusted people are important too.

you can feel better, depending on the severity of the problem. if you're mildly depressed, then the above suggestions may pull you out of it. however, if it is moderate to severe, there is NO reason for you to suffer any more. you should see a doctor right away, to get counseling and medication.

I am not sure what you mean by beat it yourself. Do you mean without therapy, without medication, without friends?? If that's what you mean, the answer is no. But first, find out whether you are truly depressed. The symptoms must be present for at least two months, sadness, loneliness, loss of motivation, of interest in things you used to like, problems with eating, sleep, etc... Generally, depression is treated in amost equal parts with "a better situation," (meaning exercise, a hobby, a good couple of friends), and with therapy, and with medication. Go to the National Institute of Mental Health website, and look up depression, and look up teen depression. www.nih.nimh.gov.

I beat depression all by myself. You just need to learn to think differently. Think positive and happy thoughts. Good luck to you!!

hey there, yes it is possible, but sometimes its so hard to think positve about anything when ur depressed.my advice would be see your doctor theres nothing wrong in my eyes with anti depressents it it stops you going round in depressive circles. It could just help you get the lift you need quicker .
best wishes

It's a chemical imbalance in your brain. What i had was just tearing me apart. I didn't go to the doctors for years and i slowly just degenerated. So no i don't think it's easy to beat by yourself. I think you can't do that with real clinical depression.

Just go to the doctors(easier said than done), it's hard at first but medication is what you need if you feel really down. Your thoughts can drift to self-harm and suicide. Being a teenager is just **** as well, what with high school, that really stressed me out. Anyway go to the doctors, better be safe than sorry.
