Is it ok to tease and make fun of my college roommate if he is very strange?!
Question: I sometimes call my roommate names like fat pig, nerd boy, clumsy, and strange because he is. At 5'10 he weighs 330 pounds because he eats like every hour. He has the face of someone who is nerdy, is clumsy, and very uncoordinated at sports and gets upset when I speak greatly of people who excel at sports to him. He has very few friends and as a 23 year old has never dated. He has a strange habit in which he hums to himself alot and would repeat the same thing that he told me or another person to himself many times and laugh at it even though it is not funny. He will always go to authority (parents, a professor, or a dean) if a fellow student calls him a name he does not like, hits, or kicks him instead of dealing with his own problems like most college students do.

no its not ok. unless you have a very positive stronge relationship dont do that. if he is fat he probibly gets it enought in public. my brother is the same way, and it hurts him. he is 5'4 and 320 lbs. he come home from collage cry'n cause his room mates are realy mean to him. is sad to have to comfort him because people judge, and tease.
Why do you have to be so mean. Grow up- he's a person too. You are no better than him if anything I'd rather be him than you.

Does it offend him? If it does, don't do it. You said he doesn't have many friends -- but are you one of his friends? if you are, and it's just hassling him in a friendly, jovial manner, I think it's all good.
Leave him alone..........it's fun at the time making fun of people but don't do it. He's trying just like everyone else. Try to at least be kind to him. He has feelings too.
Instead of making fun of him why don't you let him join in certain activities with you?
He probably has this eating habit because no one invites him to hang out. Why don't you guys do things together that'll keep his mind off food and maybe you guys might end up being friends. Get to know him more and see then how you feel about your room mate.
I don't think he is strange. Just cautious. After all, the way you described him made it sound he was teased all his life.

Anyways i think you should find something else to do rather than pick on people. You are no better than anyone else. Don't be so mean and rude.

I can't believe you would even ask such a stupid thing. Of course it is not alright to make fun of anyone or call them names, especially if they appear to have problems as this fellow seems to have. If you can't handle him as a roommate, get another one and let this one be.

Nice. Your going to do whatever you want to do anyway. But look at it this way. Those nerdy guys are the ones that run or own the big business'. So maybe one day in the future you may be asking him for a job. What do you think his answer will be?
How can you get pleasure out of demeaning another person?
I would venture to say that he has had that treatment from people just like you, all his lfe.
This is his escape from the likes of you and your friends who do this.

well,he is civilized ,nothing is wrong wiz doin z ryt thing ,mr ,calling some1 wht u called him will effect him negatively n if u have no heart ,imagine if you were in his shoes,no1 chooses how he looks like ,maybe try 2 help him in a friendly way or tell him 2 go to the thrapist cuz u think he is stressed or any reason OTHER THAN u thinkin him a fat pig
Well to be honest, if you make fun of him because of his appearance (which he can't help) then its gonna hurt him. Leave him alone and let him do better in life unline some of the poeple that are harsh to him.
