I am hopeless about life at the moment. I just don't see myself really chang!

Question: My therapist recommended getting on an anti-depressant for a little while until I can "get over my hump". The problem is that I've been knocked down so much that at this point, I don't even believe I can get back up. Failed jobs, failed relationships. She tells me I haven't failed like I think I have, it's just how I view it.

Anyway, she think Prozac would help. I've been on meds before, they helped but this time I want to do it alone. I am not suicidal or anything, just depressed.

Is there any thing someone could suggest that would get me out of this funk? So that I have hope again and believe in myself? That is what I want most - to believe in myself.

Thanks,

Answers: I am glad that you are getting the professinal help that you need. Life is full of challenges and can overcome us sometimes. Or it just could be that you are more predispose to depression than others because of some chemical imbalance. Just keep counting your blessings. You have a lot of other things that other people don't and can't have. You are a unique individual, nobody is exactly like you. Maybe reading an inspirational material will help as well. Read and ponder in your heart. I haven't been on any medication regarding depression but I do feel depress sometimes just not all the time. It takes time to heal and life is worth all the pain and sorrow. Remember for every bad thing that happened in our lives, there are good things that will come out of it. After the rain, everything outside is so fresh, so full of life, so clean. After the night there is a day always. You can not be weaker than these trials that are given you. Someone loves you more than anyone else, no matter what. And my greatest therapy is always reading my scriptures. It is full of great examples of failures and triumphs. Faith, love and hope, we need these to get stronger and better for the rest of our lives. One thing that helps me as well is the service to others that helps me appreciate my blessings and share what I have. Putting the needs of other above mine helps me take my mind off my own problems. Also, you cannot love others unless you love yourself first. Take care of yourself, develop healthy habits of eating right, exercising your body and setting personal goals. Best of all, relying on Someone that is stronger than us all. He had gone through much more pain and sorrow and yet rises at the end. Prayer is a great reliever of stress, pain and hurt. Good Luck and May God Bless You.
