Which is a better job? A psychiatrist or psychologist?!
Question: I already know that psychologists talks to their patients about their problems, and that psychiatrists perscribe medicine.
But I'm interested in learning about mental disorders, what causes them, how to cure them or cope with them, etc.
So, which would be a better job to have?
Also, which makes more money?
Any additional information would be great.
Answers: Psychiatrists make more money, but they have higher malpractice insurance and more risk because they prescribe medications. Psychiatrist attend medical school as well as their psychiatry specialty and residency. Most licensed counselors or psychology associates have master degrees and are supervised by a psychologist with a PhD (may differ by state law). Psychologists can also work in many different areas depending on whether their concentration was clinical psychology or counseling psychology. You can also go into research.
